I'm 28 years od, and had just started a new job when I became very ill. I have Type I diabetes so any illness is a struggle. I ended up having pylonephritis (a severe kidney infection when enlarged my kidney) and was also septic (the bacteria was in my blood). I spent 17 days in the hospital and another 3 1/2 weeks going back to an outpatient center for IV antibiotic therapy. I was unable to work for 2 months, and unable to return to full time for a month after that.
I've accumulated quite a large amount of debt due to hospital and doctor bills. Originally the total was almost $90,000. The hospital discounted my bill due to my low income, but I still owe almost $37,000. I'm grateful to be alive so paying that sum is nothing to considering I almost died. Howeveer, my finances just won't allow me to pay too much each month. I basically live paycheck to paycheck. I've applied for state assistance but I'm too old, not disabled according to their guidelines and I don't have any dependants.
So I'm looking for anything that could help. I'm not asking someone else to pay my debt, I'm just asking for some help because the hospital is not even giving me a chance to make payments. They said if I cannot afford a monthly payment of $350 then my aacounts would go to collections.
